1. Introduction

The Set Link Nano is a compact Ethernet bridge built on Wi-Fi HaLow technology. In Europe, it operates in the 863–868 MHz frequency band, delivering long-range, stable connections where standard 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi fall short.
Think of it as an “air cable”: devices connected through Set Link Nanos behave exactly as if they were plugged directly into your switch or network device. The units remain invisible on your network, ensuring seamless integration.

2. Device Overview
General

Pairing Button: press on both the Access Point and Client at the same time to initiate pairing.
Mode Switch: set the device to AP (Access Point) or Client. Only one device can be the Access Point; all others must be set to Client.

Lemo 0B 2pin connector: 5.3-36v reverse polarity protected
RJ45: 100mbps speed. Yellow light indicates device power (stays on all the time) and activity once connected. Green light indicates link to the ethernet device.

LEDs:
-POWER: lights up when the device is powered on.
-SIGNAL STRENGTH: three LEDs showing reception quality. On the AP, these are only accurate when paired with a single Client; if more than one Client is connected, all LEDs remain on constantly.
-AP MODE: ON indicates the device is set as an Access Point; OFF indicates it is in Client mode.

-ARRI Anti twist 1/4” 20
-Antenna: SMA connector.

-Easily swappable coloured rubber rings allowing to easily differentiate your Set Link Nanos.

Connectivity
Bandwidth: 5 Mbps with a 2 MHz channel, 8 Mbps with a 4 MHz channel, and up to 16 Mbps with an 8 MHz channel under optimal conditions. Performance will gradually degrade to below 1 Mbps as the signal weakens before disconnecting entirely.
Note: These speeds apply only for AP-to-Client communication. For Client-to-Client data transfer, the effective bandwidth is halved due to simultaneous transmission and reception on the Access Point.
You can connect up to 8 clients to a single access point for greater capacity; however, keep in mind that bandwidth is shared, and overall performance will decrease as more devices are added.

3. Setup
The Set Link Nano is extremely easy to set up — you only need to use the Mode Switch and the Pairing Button.
3.1 Modes
AP (Access Point)
The device configured as the Access Point (AP) serves as the central hub of your network.
All Client devices connect to this Access Point — in a standard setup, only one AP can exist in a network. (for advanced configuration including Roaming, see 9.Advanced Configuration using Netat)
Every other device must be set to Client mode.
Clients can communicate with each other through the Access Point; however, keep in mind that client-to-client bandwidth is half of the client-to-AP bandwidth due to shared transmission and reception on the AP.
Example setup 1: 2 cameras, DIT Cart (AP)

You need to consider carefully where you will be placing you Access Point as it will need to be on at all times and within reach of all devices in order to operate as expected.
Client
Client mode is used for devices that are not the center of the network, such as cameras or other on-set equipment. These devices connect to a single Access Point (AP) and can communicate with each other only through the AP.
3.2 Pairing
Attach the antennas and power on your devices. Keep the AP and Client Set Link Nanos close to each other. Press and hold the pairing buttons on both devices simultaneously for about 3 seconds. The LEDs will blink rapidly; release the buttons when this happens. Once paired successfully, the signal quality LEDs will light up. Repeat this process for each device you want to add to your network.
If pairing fails, try rebooting all devices. You can also switch the devices from AP to Client mode and back again. If the issue persists, the devices may have mismatched settings preventing them from pairing (see 9.Advanced Configuration using Netat ).

4. Best Practices - Advices
Longer is better
Whenever possible, use the largest antenna available to achieve the best range. It’s not necessary for all devices to use the same antenna type — for instance, you can use a small nub antenna on the camera and a long one on your cart for optimal performance.
Antenna frequency
Use only antennas designed for the frequency your Set Link Nano operates on. Standard 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi antennas will perform very poorly, if at all.
Point it up
As with most RF antennas, you’ll get the best performance when the antennas are oriented vertically, pointing toward the ceiling or sky.
Higher is better
The higher you place the Set Link Nano, the better it will perform. Human bodies absorb radio waves effectively, so mounting the device higher helps reduce interference.
Nub antenna
To prevent losing your nub antennas, it’s best to leave them attached to your Set Link Nano during transport.
Interference
When using multiple Set Link networks on set, try to keep devices from different networks a few meters apart to reduce interference. Even an unpaired but powered-on Set Link device can cause interference while searching for its network.
5. Troubleshooting
Set Link Nano will not boot
Check that the power cable is properly connected and delivering power.
If the polarity is reversed, the Set Link Nano will not start up (this can easily occur when using a P-Tap to LEMO 2 cable).
If the issue persists, contact us for repair or replacement.
No communication between AP and Client
Reboot both the AP and Client devices and ensure the antennas are properly attached.
Confirm that the AP is set to AP mode (AP LED on) and the Client is in Client mode (AP LED off), then try pairing them again.
AP and Clients are not pairing
Reboot both AP and Client and verify that the antennas are properly attached.
Try switching the mode from Client to AP and back again.
If you’ve been using Netat or are attempting to pair with another Taixin device, the settings may not match. In that case, reset both devices to factory defaults via Netat or adjust their settings to match (see 9.Advanced Configuration using Netat ).
No communication to camera
Reboot both AP and Client and check the antenna connections.
Verify that the green LED on the Set Link Nano’s Ethernet port is lit, indicating a proper connection to the camera.
If the green LED is off, the Ethernet cable between the Set Link Nano and the camera may be faulty or the ethernet port is not activated on camera.
If the green LED is on and the yellow LED is not blinking, the issue might be on the camera’s network configuration (see 6. Camera control section for more details)
Also ensure that each device has a unique fixed IP address within the same subnet, for example:
- Computer: 10.10.0.2
- Cameras: 10.10.0.101, 10.10.0.102, 10.10.0.103...
- Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Slow communication to camera / Bad reception
To improve reception:
- Mount the Set Link Nanos as high as possible.
- Switch to the larger antenna if not already in use.
- Position the AP at a midpoint between Clients to improve range (see schematic) — note that bandwidth will be halved when communicating Client to Client
- Use a 90-degree SMA Antenna if your antenna cannot be oriented vertically (See Small 90degree version, has a range between the small and the large stock antennas (53.5mm))
6. Camera control
Introduction to IP addresses and setting up your control device
What is an IP address and range
Every device on a network needs its own IP address, like a street address.
All devices that need to communicate must be on the same IP range (same “street”), but each one must have a unique number (different “house number”).
Example IP range:
10.10.0.xxx
- The first three parts (10.10.0.) must be the same for all devices (”Street”).
- The last part (xxx) must be unique (”house number”).
Example setup:
Camera: 10.10.0.101
Control device: 10.10.0.2
Do not give two devices the same address or they won’t be able to connect.
Recommended range
Use this simple range for most setups:
IP range: 10.10.0.xxx
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
This range works well as it is unlikely to conflict with an other network you could be connected to.
Do not fill anything for the “Router” section as this is only needed if you want your device to access the internet.
Setting the control device’s IP
macOS
Go to System Settings → Network.
Select your Ethernet service that you want to use for camera control.
Click Details → TCP/IP.
Choose “Manually” and enter:
IP address: 10.10.0.2
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Leave Router blank
Click OK.

iPadOS / iOS
Connect your device to the Set Link Nano using an Ethernet adapter (USB-C or Lightning to Ethernet).
Go to Settings → Ethernet (this menu appears only when an adapter is connected).
Tap your Ethernet connection.
Tap Configure IP → Manual.
Enter the following: IP address: 10.10.0.2 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Leave Router blank.
Tap save

Advanced setup for networks cohabitation
If you are a DIT and want to have on the same network your cameras and you’re cart’s equipment, there are different ways of achieving that:
- Get all you devices on the same IP range. Use an IP address for your camera that is in the same range as your cart’s equipment (If your cart uses 192.168.8.xxx, give your cameras an IP in that range).
- Duplicate your network service in your macOS preferences:


you can then assign two different IPs to the same ethernet port allowing the simultaneous access to different IP ranges from the same port (you could have 192.168.8.2 on “USB Lan” to connect to your cart and 10.10.0.2 on “USB Lan 2” to connect to the cameras)

Camera Setup
Go to SYSTEM then NETWORK / WIFI

Disable wifi power if it is not needed (note that you can access the camera simultaneously via Ethernet and Wifi which can be convenient for a 1st AC close to camera).
Switch the LAN IP mode to static then entered your desired IP address and subnet mask.

Don’t forget to activate CAP if you are going to need it (for ARRI Camera Companion, livegrading…)


If you plan on using the Set Link Nano to livegrade straight into the camera, DISABLE the frame-grab feature in livegrade. Indeed grabbing a frame of a raw image from the camera and transferring it to livegrade takes up the whole bandwidth for the duration of the transfer making any other controls unusable.
Alexas can be controlled using the Arri Camera Control app on iOS/ipadOS/macOS or via its webpage by entering the camera’s IP address in a web browser.
In scenarios where the connection is weak, we recommend removing the “WebUI” button from your ARRI camera Companion page as it downloads the webpage in the background and can slow down your whole setup.
The web page is quite heavy (3.5MB) and usually takes 10-20 seconds to load for the first time.
ARRI CCA Setup
Make sure that your control device has an IP address in the same range as the camera (see Introduction to IPs addresses and setting up your control device for more details)
To connect your camera(s), open the preferences from the top right corner.
Go down to the “network” section

Make sure “Simulate camera” is un-checked then type the camera’s IP address in the “Host” section” Do not fill the “Serial” section, it should auto fill when the camera is detected.
Make sure CAP password is filled with the password matching the on set in the camera’s settings (Default password is “arri”).
Venice 1 & 2
Connection
Venice 1 & 2 cameras have a built in RJ45 port making it easy to connect. We advise a 20-30cm thin ethernet cable for a clean build.
Power must be supplied separately via a dedicated cable. Depending on your setup it can be any of these options: Dtap-Lemo2, Lemo2-Lemo2, USB-C-Lemo2, RS3-Lemo2.

Once password set, go to Network. In Setting chose LAN then in LAN switch DHCP off and then set the IP address and subnet mask. Either set an IP address matching your network or if you have no network use this one this IP 10.10.0.101 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0:

Beware, it can be more stable on some setups to leave the Venice in DHCP and assign it a fixed IP address on you network’s DHCP Server.
Make sure that your control device has an IP address in the same range as the camera (see Introduction to IPs addresses and setting up your control device for more details)
Venice Cameras can be controlled via their webpage by entering the camera’s IP address in a web browser. You will then need to type your user name and password set in “Authentication” on the camera to access the webpage.
An other great way to change control the settings is via a Cyanview RCP or Skaarhoj device. It is more reliable as it does not require the webpage and doesn’t need a high bandwidth to work.
BEWARE the web page is quite heavy (3.5MB) and can usually takes 10-20 seconds to load with good reception.

Setting the IP address on a red raptor:



Set an IP address matching your network or if you have no network use this one 10.10.0.101:

Setting the IP address on red raptor:

Chose Gig-E if you are connecting to ethernet via your camera’s 9pin 0-B Port


Set an IP address matching your network or if you have no network use this one 10.10.0.101:

Sony Burano - FX6 - FX3 - FX30 via Monitor & Control

Burano
The Sony Burano has built in RJ45 port making it easy to connect. We advise a 20-30cm thin ethernet cable for a clean build.
Power must be supplied separately via a dedicated cable. Depending on your setup it can be any of these options: Dtap-Lemo2, Lemo2-Lemo2, USB-C-Lemo2, RS3-Lemo2.

FX6
The FX6 does not have an ethernet port.
You need to use a USB-C to ethernet adapter.
Only adapters with the USB-C to Ethernet chipsets RTL8153 and AX88179 are compatible. Chipsets RTL8153A, RTL8153B, AX88179A, AX88179B are NOT compatible.

FX3/FX30
The FX3 does not have an ethernet port.
You need to use a USB-C to ethernet adapter. We haven’t had a chance to test USB-C to Ethernet adapters for this camera and it may be the same as the FX6 regarding compatibility.

Either set an IP address matching your network or if you have no network use this one this IP 10.10.0.101 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0 (leave Gateway blank).
Make sure that your control device has an IP address in the same range as the camera (see Introduction to IPs addresses and setting up your control device for more details)
FX6

- Select (Network) – [USB-LAN/Tethering] – [USB-LAN Connection] – [On]
- Select (Network) – [Wired LAN] – [IP Address Setting] – [Manual].
Set the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway.
Example:
IP address: 100.100.0.101
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: Leave Blank
- Select (Network) – [Cnct./Remote Sht] – [Remote Shoot Function] – [Remote Shooting] – [On]
- Select [Access Authen. Info] on the screen to see the user name and password (will be needed to connect)
Monitor & Control Setup
Make sure that the IP address on the control device is set properly. Refer to this section if needed: Setting the control device’s IP
Start the APP and then select “Wired LAN” in the “Connection Method” menu

You should then see your camera connected. Tap “Connect” and then authenticate using the User Name and Password entered previously in camera.
Phantom Flex / VEO 4K
Camera control is possible via the Set Link Nano but due to bandwidth limitations it is recommended to use the iPhantom app only. PVP can work but PCC requires too much bandwidth as it constantly pulls raw images from the sensor via ethernet.
For IP setting, it is best to match your control device’s IP to the camera’s IP range (You can find the camera’s IP on a withe label at the bottom of the camera below the menu screen)
This IP setup should work most times for your control device:

7. Compatibilty
From our testing Setlink is only compatible with the wifi Halow chip from Taixin.
It is therefore compatible with the Spudnik, the Anjielo netbridge board, most likely the AtomLink (not tested) and it seems to be compatible with Bitbox.

9.Advanced Configuration using Netat
For advanced users only.
Using a command line tool on windows or linux (works virtualized on Macos) you can change your Set Link Nanos’ settings including:
- Network SSID and network password.
- Frequency settings (set a specific frequency range to be used for specific needs).
- Bandwidth (allows higher data rates, though this may make the device non-compliant with your local regulations).
- Relay mode (lets one AP connect to another AP to extend range — note that bandwidth is halved in this mode)
- Roaming configuration (enabling Clients to switch automatically between multiple APs connected by Ethernet to your network, useful for large spaces)
- A group of Set Link Nanos to be “pre-paired,” allowing devices to switch between AP and Client roles without needing to re-pair. This is helpful when operating near range limits — you can make a more central device the AP to stay within reach of all Clients (keep in mind that Client-to-Client communication offers half the bandwidth of AP-to-Client communication)
- Reset all settings to factory default.
